Homeport Community Life Programs provide educational opportunities, community events, and connections to social services through the AmeriCorps program and collaborations with other non-profit agencies.

Out of School Enrichment Programming:

Curriculum-based programs provide assistance with math, reading, science, and history. Programs are offered after school and during the summer months to all resident children.

Meal Programs:

Offered at 5 sites provides summer breakfast and lunch to school age children. Also provides after school snack 5 days a week during the school year.

Take Home Groceries:

Eligible families receive groceries twice a month.

Resident Council /Block Watches:

Residents actively discuss and resolve issues in their communities. The council also provides a social opportunity for residents to meet their neighbors and learn more about their community.

The Benefit Bank:

Community Life Program members administer The Ohio Association of Second Harvest Food Bank’s online program designed to help households determine their eligibility, and apply for assistance from Federal, State and Local agencies. Benefit Bank trained AmeriCorps members can also complete online tax filings for federal and state tax returns.

Social Service Referrals:

Links to services including mental health care and medical providers, chemical dependency, child care, material assistance and employment resources.

Service Coordination/Eviction Prevention:

Available to any household living in a Homeport Rental Living community. Services include individual case planning, and crisis intervention and mediation.

Computer Lab:

Residents can access the internet and receive assistance in developing or posting a resume, searching for employment or academic research.

Health and Safety Events:

Health and safety fairs incorporate mobile dental, vision and mammography screenings.

Seasonal Material Assistance:

Back-to-school events are held before the start of the school year to provide school supplies, books, and backpacks for community children. Gift drives are also coordinated at the communities during the holiday season.
