In September 2016, Mr. Luecke stepped into the role of President & CEO for Homeport, bringing with him over 35 years of experience in the banking and financing arenas. His previous experience includes being Senior Vice President at Bank One Corporation (now JP Morgan Chase) and Vice President at Nationwide Bank, where he led Nationwide Bank's business lines from start - up to $6 billion in assets in 8 years, helping the company experience significant growth in consumer lending and relationship management. He has also been a board member of the Community Development Collaborative of Greater Columbus, and is a former Homeport board member and board chair. Mr. Luecke holds an MBA in Finance from Loyola University Chicago and a BSBA in Finance from John Carroll University.
Valorie Schwarzmann, J.D., CPA
Chief Financial Officer & Senior Vice President, Program Operations
Ms. Schwarzmann, J.D., CPA, joined Homeport in 2010 as its Chief Financial Officer after serving on its Board of Directors for three years, as its Treasurer. Her responsibilities include overseeing the financial systems, processes, planning, and reporting for all lines of business. Ms. Schwarzmann worked in public accounting for almost twenty years prior to joining Homeport. She received a B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan University, received a Juris Doctorate from New England School of Law, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Senior Vice President, Community & Government Relations
Ms. Hill joined Homeport in 1990 and has served as Vice President of Community Relations since 1997. Her responsibilities encompass coordinating public relations for Homeport and networking with other organizations to facilitate important community liaisons. She also plays a critical role in developing government support and funding for tax credit projects. Prior to joining Homeport, Ms. Hill worked for the State of Ohio in the Governor’s Office for Recovery Services and served as an advisor to then - First Lady Dagmar Celeste. Ms. Hill was inducted into the YWCA Columbus Women of Achievement Academy in early 2018.
Senior Vice President, Real Estate Development
Mrs. Evans oversees the financing, development and implementation of Homeport’s residential real estate development and neighborhood revitalization strategies and leads business development to support the targets of Homeport’s strategic plan and to increase investment and impact in Central Ohio communities. Mrs. Evans previously served as the Vice President of Neighborhood Strategies and Director of Home Ownership. Prior to her work at Homeport, Mrs. Evans served as the Deputy Director of Planning & Development for the City of Gahanna where she oversaw the building, code enforcement, land-use planning, economic development and zoning activities and managed the administrative functions of the department. Prior to being Deputy Director, Mrs. Evans was the city’s first Economic Development Manager and held several positions in community and economic development with the Ohio Department of Development (now the Ohio Development Services Agency). Mrs. Evans holds a Masters in City & Regional Planning from The Ohio State University, is a trained Project Management Professional and a certified Economic Development Finance Professional. She has a depth of experience in community and economic development and is committed to building and sustaining strong and inclusive communities.
Mr. Metzler brings over 17 years of experience from working in the real estate development and architecture industries. His role consists of managing the development team from pre-acquisition through construction. His diverse project background includes a wide range of housing types (affordable, student, single-family and multi-family), retail, medical, office and municipal buildings of up to $30M in size. He is a LEED Green Associate and has also received a Project Management Professional Certificate in Affordable Housing from NeighborWorks America®. Mr. Metzler holds a Master of Business Administration degree and a Master of Architecture degree from Kent State University, along with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from The Ohio State University.
Real Estate Closing Manager
Mr. Casper has over 16 years of experience in real estate, in both low income housing tax credits and homeownership, closing over $64 million in equity financing, $54 million in construction & permanent financing, and over $20 million in predevelopment/acquisition, HOME and bridge loan financing in his tenure with Homeport. He has also been involved in multiple phases of development from property identification, acquisition and due diligence, to construction draw processing and closing on various forms of financing. Mr. Casper is a magna cum laude graduate of The Ohio State University with a B.A. in Psychology.
Angela Cradle is Homeport’s Sales Manager. Her primary responsibilities include marketing, promotion, and monitoring of single-family home sales. Ms. Cradle works closely with home-buyers throughout the home purchase process- from pre-qualification to closing, and coordinates with the lender, builder, buyer, and title company to ensure a timely and efficient home purchase. Ms. Cradle began working at Homeport in 2006, and has held the roles of Event Coordinator and Sales Coordinator prior to becoming Sales Manager. Ms. Cradle holds a Master degree in Management from Ohio Dominican University and Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Franklin University.
Director of Asset Management
Mr. Wahler brings over 16 years of real estate development and asset management for low income communities throughout the United States. His diverse project background includes a wide range of housing types to include affordable single-family and multi-family, subsidized, mixed use, and market rate. Mr. Wahler served as a Project Manager in Asset Management for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development prior to joining Homeport. Mr. Wahler holds a Master of Business Administration specializing in Finance from Franklin University, along with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from The Ohio State University.
Lease-Option Program Manager
Ms. Moncrief has 20 years of construction management and home sales experience and oversaw the roll-out of Homeport’s award-winning no-smoking at housing properties policy that received the highest honor possible from the Ohio Department of Health. Ms. Moncrief currently is the manager of Homeport’s Lease-Option program that transitions residents from renting to owning once the house they are living in becomes 15 years old. She also assists Homeport’s Rental Development department with construction standards and finishes and provides sales and construction standards for the Homeownership Department. Earlier in her career she co-lead Homeport’s Asset Management team overseeing $30M in real estate assets. She holds a Certification in Non-profit Housing Management and Financial Capability.
Donald E. Butler
Real Estate Controller
As Real Estate Controller working with Homeport’s Rental Development and Asset Management departments, Don draws on forty years of real estate, finance, accounting, and management experiences. A Columbus native and graduate of The Ohio State University, Don is a Certified Public Accountant who has held executive real estate and technical consulting jobs in Boston, Cleveland and Central Ohio. Before Homeport, Don was senior vice president of a Cleveland real estate company overseeing a 4,000-unit apartment portfolio. Don started his career in the Columbus office of Price Waterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers). Clients ranged from mortgage banking, to heavy industries to not-for-profits.
