Homeport recently held its Community Health & Resource Fair, sponsored by Chase, for the George’s Creek Apartments residents. The event was an opportunity to connect residents to helpful organizations in the community, provide them with resources such as health connections and fresh produce, and motivate residents to make positive changes in their lives.
The event featured community resources including Starr Columbus, Homeport Housing Advisory Center, Canal Winchester Human Services, The United Way’s Columbus Kids Program, Lady Butterflies, and Imagine Academy, who were on hand to introduce the 60 Homeport residents to their services. Bags of fresh produce provided by Mid-Ohio Foodbank were taken home by every resident and there was a raffle of a home cleaning gift basket, a healthy eating gift basket, and children’s books and toys. The day was completed with a community cookout of hot dogs and grilled vegetables, as well as children's games such as health trivia and physical fitness activities.
The George’s Creek Community Health & Resource Fair is one of a series of wellness events sponsored by Chase taking place in many Homeport communities over the next few months. The events attract anywhere between 50 and 300 residents, who benefit not only from the resources offered but also the sense of community fostered.
