Meet Morgen Wade:
"I wanted to take a quick minute to introduce myself. I began my relationship with Homeport back in 2007, as an AmeriCorps Member in our North of Broad community. With North of Broad residents and volunteers, I led a beautification program, created a community green space, and jumpstarted a neighborhood resident association. Since then, I’ve been working as Homeport’s Grants Manager, working in the office to support each of Homeport’s Programs. I recently transitioned to become Homeport’s Manager of Volunteer Engagement. I am most excited about reconnecting with Homeport’s mission, through more direct involvement in our communities.
The first project I’m working on in collaboration with Homeport Community Life is Homeport’s Bright Ideas Book Bank, which will provide every child ages 0 to 18 in Homeport’s communities the opportunity to receive a book of their choice, free of cost, to keep them engaged over the winter break. As the weather turns colder, parents struggle to keep kids physically and mentally active, so Homeport’s Bright Ideas Book Bank supports those efforts. This week and next week, book lists and registration forms are being delivered to every Homeport resident, and next week, we’ll begin recruiting donors and volunteers to purchase books for kids and to participate in our Bright Ideas Book Fairs. Stay tuned for updates on the program’s progress, and click here for more information about how you can get involved!"
