Homeport seeks Energy Efficiency Program Intern

Do you have an interest in sustainable development, real estate, or conserving natural resources?  Homeport has a project for you!

It is Homeport’s mission to create and preserve healthy, stable and affordable communities – one neighborhood, one person at a time. If you’d like to join that effort by implementing a program to track energy and water usage at Homeport properties, then you might be the perfect candidate for our Energy Efficiency Program Internship.

Homeport is seeking a local college student (sophomore+ preferred) or long term volunteer to give between eight and 12 hours each week in our Asset Management department located in downtown Columbus. Free parking, business casual dress, and flexible schedule between 8am and 5pm make this position perfect for a student intern or long term volunteer.

Intern goals include: Developing benchmarks by which Homeport can gauge the energy and water efficiency of properties in our portfolio, and compare to buildings of similar size and age in Central Ohio; Completing a Pro/Con Analysis of two energy efficiency software programs; Entering, scrubbing, and analyzing energy and water usage data in our current energy efficiency tracking system; and researching best practices in green multifamily building operations and making recommendations to the asset management team.

Some knowledge or strong interest in building systems, city planning, or energy and water efficiency preferred. Intern will also gain hands-on training from Homeport, including opportunities to interact with  property management  and make construction site visits.

Please contact Morgen Wade at 614-545-4817 or morgen.wade@homeportohio.org if you are interested in hearing more about this opportunity or any other volunteer needs we have at Homeport!
