Construction is nearing completion for the 32-unit second phase of Homeport’s popular Eastway Village senior apartment community in Whitehall, with leasing opportunities expected by March.
“Demand is great,” said Jason Lamneck, Director of Finance and Real Estate for Homeport. Approximately 200 people have expressed interest in the apartment homes at 4253 East Broad Street.
The one bedroom apartments will be joining the existing 66-apartment first phase completed in 2013. Both properties will be managed by Wallick Communities. Individuals interested in renting at Eastway can call Muezjuana Johnson, Wallick Properties, at (614) 863-4640.
Whitehall officials are pleased construction is concluding for the second phase of Eastway, which will be for residents 62 years and older.
“Ensuring that the senior population in Whitehall has access to high quality, affordable housing is a priority of the City,” said Zachary Woodruff, Whitehall’s Director of Economic and Community Development. “We have been very pleased with the first phase of Eastway Village and are excited for the completion of phase two. “
Rent will vary. Those moving in will not pay more than 30 percent of their monthly income. A single person tenant can earn no more than $24,050. A two-person home cannot earn more than $27,450.
On the south side of Broad Street west of Yearling Road, Eastway Village provides easy access to bus lines, shopping and services. Similar to the first phase, the 32-unit building offers residents access to a large community room with kitchen, lounges, library-computer room and exercise room.
