Title: Real Estate Closing Manager, Rental Development
What do you do at Homeport? During my 12 year career with Homeport, I have been a Development Coordinator for the Homeownership and Rental Development departments, a Project Manager for Homeownership and currently I am the Real Estate Closing Manager for Homeport’s Rental department.
My current responsibilities include the closing of pre-development, acquisition, construction, equity and bridge loan financing, with over $7 million in predevelopment and acquisition loans and equity financing of more than $33 million over 8 projects in the last 5 years.
I also assist in construction draw processing, external compliance reporting to private and public funders and departmental compliance with city and state guidelines. I also assist in submitting tax credit applications to the Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) that support the development of our communities.
What do you like most about the organization? Simple: the people I work with and the mission that we carry out. We have an exceptional staff. It is remarkable the feats we accomplish relative to the size of the company. It’s a great feeling to know that the work we do results in thousands of families and individuals in Central Ohio having an affordable, healthy home in which to live.
What have you done in your career that you are most proud of or that people may not be aware of?
A magna cum laude graduate of The Ohio State University, with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology I have over 13 years in the real estate development field, including 12 with Homeport.
While in Homeport’s Homeownership Division, I worked as Project Manager for HUD’s Asset Control Area (ACA) pilot program. The program was short-lived, but it provided me an opportunity to work closely with some very capable and passionate individuals both inside and outside the organization. Among them was the late Ray Prendeville, who served at various times as director of Homeownership and director of Asset Management and Construction. Ray taught me the importance of pride in my work and instilled in me a strong desire to always strive to do the right thing, even though it may not be the easy thing. He showed me how that level of pride -- and dedication -- translates through to the housing and services we provide to the residents of Central Ohio. I’m very proud to have worked alongside Ray and honored to continue to carry on the work that he and all of Homeport is so passionate about.
Favorite thing to do outside of work? I am a huge music buff and have a great fondness for most things related to the electric guitar. I’ve tinkered as an amateur guitar technician for a number of years, as well as played guitar for over 25 years. It is a great creative outlet for me.
