The challenges single parents – particularly women -- face in finding an affordable home and raising their children is the focus of a Homeport- sponsored Town Hall style meeting in late April.
The April 28 program will feature the showing of the acclaimed one-hour Maria Shriver-HBO produced documentary “Paycheck to Paycheck: The Life & Times of Katrina Gilbert.”
Ms. Gilbert, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, will be attending the program and joining a panel that discusses film themes of housing, education and employment.
The event will be held 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in downtown Columbus at COSI (Center of Science and Industry) and is open to the public.
“Homeport is organizing this event to raise awareness to the challenges created by underemployment and the importance of an affordable home as a pathway out of poverty,” said Homeport President/CEO Amy Klaben.
Registration and other information about the event will be announced in coming weeks.
