Title: Project Manager for the Rental Development Team
Responsibilities: As a Project Manager for Rental Development, I am in charge of managing the overall process of a project as early as pre-acquisition through the end of construction. Since my initial hire at Homeport, I have been involved with a mix of project types including Homeport’s new office building on Agler Road, the redevelopment of Barrett School into apartments, and our Low Income Housing Tax Credit award, Hilltop Homes II, in the Central Hilltop neighborhood of Columbus. Being a Project Manager enables me to be involved with all facets of real estate development which is something I love. It’s been exciting to be a part of commercial, market-rate, and affordable housing projects.
What do you like most about the organization?
The people and my team. Ever since coming on-board with Homeport, I have had a great experience getting to know my co-workers both internally and externally. I feel that a positive culture is a huge trait that organizations need to have to be successful and Homeport has that. From my initial hire, I have felt welcomed, and a part of, the Homeport team.
In addition, being a part of this organization has opened my eyes to some of the poor living conditions for some Central Ohio families. It’s a good feeling to be part of a team that strives to improve these conditions by providing them with the services and quality homes they need to be successful in both their careers and raising a family.
What have you done in your career that you are most proud of, or that people may not be aware of?
Completing a full-time program to obtain my MBA and Masters of Architecture degrees simultaneously, in addition to working a part-time job. Some may think I lost my hair due to raising my twin boys who are three years old, but it was really through the punishment that these two degrees put me through, particularly architecture. Thinking about it now, I was crazy (still am), but it was worth it!
Favorite things you do outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my family, exercising, and being a part of the Columbus Urban Land Institute (ULI) where I currently serve as Co-Chair on the Membership Committee (by the way…we always have room for more members!).
