Participate In June Campaigns Supporting Affordable Housing

Whether you appreciate a stylish hair cut or delicious meal, Homeport in June is offering two distinct venues for contributions to close the affordable housing gap in Central Ohio.

For all of June, customers of Nurtur Salon locations in Upper Arlington, Grandview and the Brewery District will be able to leave an extra tip for Homeport.

Similarly, the Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern at Easton will provide an opportunity to make a difference when on June 21 it will donate to Homeport 15 percent of all dine-in food and beverage sales. Click here to print out a special certificate to provide your server.

“Columbus is a giving and caring community and these two businesses are creating a pathway for residents to support our efforts of providing dignity, opportunity and security through affordable housing,” said Homeport Philanthropy Director Julie Naporano.

Nurtur Salon’s month long commitment to Homeport is part of its Tip For A Cause charitable initiative supporting local and global initiatives. Its local locations are 1581 W. Lane Avenue in Upper Arlington, 1325 Grandview Avenue in Grandview and 757 S. High Street in the Brewery District.

The participating Rusty Bucket location is 4062 Gramercy Street at Easton Town Center in Columbus.

Homeport has over 5,700 residents in more than 30 apartment and single-family home communities. The organization helps residents with out of school programming, access to basic needs like food and furniture as well as emergency financial assistance for rent or utilities.

Homeport is also a leading provider of homebuyer education, financial fitness classes and individual counseling. Homeport played a leading role in creating the Affordable Housing Alliance of Central Ohio. AHACO has estimated 54,000 Central Ohio residents need affordable housing.

“Go to Nurtur Salon and get that haircut, color, weave, massage, manicure, or pedicure – and then make sure to place your donation in the Tip For A Cause jar,” Naporano said. “And don’t forget to dine at the Rusty Bucket at Easton on June 21 and hand your server the certificate to make sure 15 percent of your bill goes to Homeport.”
