Realtor Care Day Targets Milo-Grogan

Homes were re-painted, flowers potted, dead trees removed and relationships built. It was all part of 14th Annual Realtor Care Day program organized by Columbus Realtors. The June 6 event touched 21 Central Ohio communities but had a special focus in the Milo-Grogan neighborhood where 17 homes, one business and a community garden were improved.

"It was truly a day of celebration to be with everyone and to see everyone smiling, helping each other and doing things for people that you never knew until that day," Milo-Grogan Area Commission Chair Charles Thompkins wrote to organizers and participants.

Homeport's participation in Realtor Care Day had even more meaning this year, as it is currently constructing 33 new homes in Milo-Grogan as part of an overall revitalization of the once-thriving working class community northeast of Downtown Columbus.

Realtor Care Day has produced almost $500,000 in improvements since the program began in 2005.

The program is funded through the Columbus REALTORS® Foundation as well as in-kind donations of money, goods and services from individuals and companies.
