What do I like most about the organization?

I enjoy the people I work with. I am proud to work for an organization that has such a positive impact on so many lives. I am particularly impressed by the financial and homebuyer education we provide our residents and the community at large.

What have you done in your career you are most proud of, or that people may not be aware of?

Some people may not know that I was the director of a church-sponsored day care in Lima. To be able to include all income levels, I built a partnership with the Allen County Head Start. Later, I expanded the business to include infants and partnered with the city high school to house high school classes for young mothers and expectant mothers.  This allowed the mothers to stay on pace to graduate because their infants and young children could be cared for in the same building.

Favorite things I do outside of work?

Shelee and son Matt b ackcountry skiing in Colorado.

Shelee and son Matt backcountry skiing in Colorado.

I enjoy spending time with family (kids and grandchildren) and being outdoors as much as possible. My husband and I enjoy traveling together, skiing, cycling and hiking. We have skied in Switzerland and Austria, and cycled in Italy, Slovenia, France, Austria and Switzerland. I do most of my hiking in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains.

Personal Heroes?

My grandparents. They taught me patience, kindness, good work ethic, how to cook and how to be welcoming to others.  They always encouraged my sister and me to bring our friends to their home. They always knew how to stretch the food they had so everyone had plenty to eat.

What do I like about Central Ohio?

I grew up in Lima, a relatively small town in Northwest Ohio. I moved to Columbus in 2004 after meeting my future husband, who was living here. I like the idea of having ‘city’ things available and being a part of a university environment. We have season tickets to Ohio State football games. Unless we are traveling – we’re there!
