Homeport Housing Advisory Services client Maggie Parks returned on May 28 for a television testimonial about how she learned to budget, save, build credit — and become a homeowner — all in six months.

Parks was interviewed for Fox 28’s Good Day Marketplace’s Cameron Fontana — in time for June and National Homeownership Month.

Joining Parks in the interview was her Homeport advisor, Senior Counselor Layden Hale.

“She came into our Home Readiness class. We took some information. We got her scheduled for some classes. She took Financial Literacy. She took credit and budget counseling. And eventually she took our home buyer education class. But Maggie was an outstanding student.” Hale said.

Said Parks: "I give (friends and co-workers) Layden's card . . . ‘This is where you need to be. This is where you need to go.’"
