Volunteers needed for upcoming June events

Homeport is currently looking for volunteers to assist at the Marsh Run resource fair and fresh produce distribution on June 5th from 2:00 pm – 6:30pm. The resource fair events are an opportunity to connect residents to helpful organizations in the community they may not be aware of, provide them with resources such as health connections and fresh produce, and motivate residents to make positive changes in their lives. Volunteers are needed to help set up, bag and distribute approximately 10,000 pounds of fresh produce to the residents in attendance, as well as help out with the community cookout and children’s activities that will be going on during the event.

Other opportunities:

  • June 7th from 9:00am – 12:00pm we are looking for volunteers to assist at Pheasant Run with a bench building project. We are working on a build out area around our resident led community garden. Volunteers will be assisting with the assembly and installation of four benches, planting too bushes, installing rod décor, painting plant boxes and the installation of a storage shed.
  • We are still looking for volunteers to assist with our summer camp programming. We will have 5 locations running June 17th from August 9th Monday through Friday from 9am – 3pm. Please contact Rachel today for more details about how to get involved!

EMH&T donates computers for communities

The halls at the Homeport main office were recently overtaken by 28 desktop computers. Longtime partner EMH&T made the generous donation, which will help more of our residents become connected to online resources.

A crew of volunteers have been hard at work updating the computers and getting them ready for their new owners. In the coming weeks, we will move the computers to seven of our communities — four per site.  The computers will be given to kids in our summer camp, who will earn the chance to be selected by meeting participation and behavior criteria. Having a computer on display at each site will remind the campers that it takes daily practice to reach long-term goals.

A big thank you to EMH&T for offering the computers to our families. We appreciate you thinking of us.
