Food pantry’s reach expands with move to South Linden [DISPATCH]

Two years after moving from a Short North neighborhood that was no longer poor enough, the food pantry doesn’t want for clients.

“We had a 40 percent increase last year alone,” said Roy Clark, executive director of the 50-year-old agency known as NNEMAP.

The acronym (pronounced NEE-map) used to stand for Near Northside Emergency Material Assistance Program, a mouthful of a moniker whose geographical reference, thanks to the pantry’s relocation a couple miles northeast to the South Linden area, doesn’t tell the whole story.
