2018 Voice & Vision Award Recipient:
Reverend John Edgar

Three generations of the Kelley family: from left, Michael Kelley, Don Kelley, and Tim Kelley.

Reverend John Edgar is the founding pastor of the United Methodist Church for All People and Executive Director of Community Development for All People (CD4AP), a faith-based non-profit organization launched in 2003 with the mission of improving the quality of life of persons living on the South Side of Columbus, Ohio. In addition to partnering in the creation of over $60 million in affordable housing, CD4AP operates a variety of health and wellness initiatives and is deeply involved in youth development programming.

For many years, Rev. Edgar has been driving force behind the “Divine Economy of Abundance” that CD4AP delivers every single day.  Starting in 1999, with the formation of the United Methodist Free Store, to the present day through his innovative “Healthy Neighborhoods Healthy Families” partnership with Nationwide Children’s Hospital, he has been a passionate and committed force of good for the South Side of Columbus.

Rev. Edgar served on Homeport’s first board of directors in 1987. For those at Homeport and beyond, he has been a true example of how vision and persistence can make a difference for individuals and entire communities.

Rev. John Edgar reflects on the early years of Homeport, the Church for all People and why housing matters.
